Greg & Tiffany Engagement

10/20/2017

Comments

While my days as a photographer slowly come to an end, I'm so grateful that I have chosen to only say yes to sessions with my friends and loved ones. There's just something about those shoots that is so authentic and comfortable, and this was no exception.

I've known Greg for over two years now through work and he has always been one of my favorite human beings in Eau Claire. From day one, he has talked about Tiffany so much that I could have sworn we had met before when we finally met up for the shoot. She lived up to every wonderful word that Greg has ever spoken of her and they were both amazing to work with. Though we picked a lovely chilly and rainy day, we managed to find a few dry spots to snag some photos. Thank you, Greg and Tiffany, for being so easy-going and flexible during the inconvenient conditions. You two are rockstars!

The Stephensons

After a crazy last semester, student teaching, a full time job, and a few major life hiccups, I had the best break and most amazing vacation in Hawaii, on the lovely island of Oahu. It was all made possible by these two lovely human beings. I met Neysa over 20 (wow!) years ago, in kindergarten and Andrew 10 years ago when I came to visit Neysa in Iowa after she moved in high school.  These two lovely humans are now married and stationed together in Hawaii and when they asked me to come visit and stay with them, I could not have been more thrilled. We hiked, snorkeled next to a giant sea turtle, went to a luau, jumped out of a plane, and met some truly amazing people. A big shout out to the Kailua Bird Man!

Anyhow, this isn't the first time I've taken pictures for these two, but how could someone ever pass up the opportunity to do a shoot in Hawaii? Neysa and Andrew are always a blast to photograph and this shoot was no exception. Their love for one another can be felt by anyone who knows them and it shines through in these pictures. Thank you Neysa and Andrew for doing this shoot with me, for allowing me into your lives (and your house), and for being such an important piece of my life. I truly value and cherish our friendships and can't wait to see you both in Hawaii again in August. I hope you love the photos!

For these next few photos, we hiked through some jungle-like trees, a trail lined with bamboo, and over a small stream to King Kamehameha's Summer Palace. The ruins were beautiful and we got some awesome shots!

My apologies again to you both for this next shot. This was the one that absolutely soaked Andrew's shorts, which he had to deal with for another 45 minutes or so. Thanks for being such a trooper!

And a stroll off into the sunset for the final photo. The best way to end a shoot on such a beautiful beach.

A few weeks ago, I had the chance to do a mini prom shoot, something that I've never done before! Gabby and Alex were a wonderful couple to work with. We were laughing the whole way through and I was sure to include a few pictures that captured the humor that these two share! What a fun way to remember a special night!

Autumn Graduates!

Guess what everyone?! One of our favorite people to photograph is graduating and moving on to bigger and better things! When I went to post this, I thought it would be fun to go back and look at some of the pictures that we've taken of Autumn since our early days (I think our first shoot together was 2013?) and it turns out that we've done five different shoots with her! I met Autumn in choir in college (WOCO!) and she has always been an absolute dream to work with! We've been able to capture her personality time and time again, and this was no exception. Thank you, Autumn, for choosing us to capture this time in your life over and over again. You're amazing!

Best Wedding

Kassi and I have known Danielle and Delaney since a few months after they started dating and we were SO incredibly thrilled and honored when they asked us if we would shoot their wedding.  As anyone who knows them well would tell you, Danielle and Delaney have a truly special relationship.  Their love for one another is so evident- you can see their faces just light up when they lock eyes. They both have such adventurous and excitable personalities and they were truly made for one another.  Thank you so much, once again, Danielle and Delaney.  We hope that each and every photo brings back the joy of your wedding day for years to come. :)

Nick & Anne Ziel

Nick and Anne asked us if we could photograph their wedding before we had ever shot a wedding. Like back in 2014. Whoah. They trusted in what we were doing and that we would be ready to capture the day after all of the planning was done. A few months back, I found out that I would be going solo for this wedding unless I could find someone else and my friends Michaela and Nicole volunteered as tributes.  These two ladies truly stepped up to the plate and many of these beautiful images were captured by them. Thank you so much for the help, ladies!

Back to Nick and Anne. I've known both Nick and Anne since early elementary school. Nick has been my younger brother's best friends since middle school. Anne's dad was my soccer coach.  I can't tell you how many time Nick's mom sent a plate of deserts home with one of my brothers- she's a great baker! Anne's grandparents gave me my first job (and were fantastic bosses!). Nick's brother and my older brother have been friends for as long as I can remember and I went through 3 years of high school with these two. With so many connections to these families, this wedding was obviously close to my heart. Both the bride and groom's families are so incredibly welcoming and loving that every guest felt like a part of the family that night. I can only hope that these photos convey the incredible love that Nick and Anne share with one another as well as their families.  Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your day!

Anne's gift to her dad- custom cufflinks. Anne's dad was so incredibly proud of these and wanted to make sure that we got a picture of them. So precious!

Anne's mom's corsage included pictures of her brother and parents, who were watching this beautiful day from heaven.

As the ceremony began, guests were graced by the music of three of Anne's friends from her childhood and college years. The music was absolutely breathtaking.

After taking some pictures of the party, we finally had a few minutes to slip away with the newlyweds and get some photos of just the two of them!

Nick and Anne chose to symbolize their marriage with the God's Knot, or Cord of Three Strands.

"It is said that the Cord of Three Strands symbolizes the joining of one man and one woman by God into a marriage relationship. Marriage takes three; the bride, the groom, and God. By keeping Him at the center of your marriage, His love will continue to bind you together as one throughout your marriage."

Next, The maid of Honor, Anne's sister, and the Best Man, Nick's friend, made their speeches.

Nick and Anne provided small video cameras for the guests to carry around for wedding footage.  Nick's brother Jeff had one on him ALL night!

Thank you again to Mr. and Mrs. Ziel for letting us be a little part of your big day. It is evident to anyone who knows you how strong the love is between you two and how far it will carry you.  We wish you luck in the many adventures that lie ahead.

Nick and Anne asked us if we would be their wedding photographers way back in 2014, and their big day is so quickly approaching! I've known these two for much of my life, being from the same hometown (and Nick being best friends with my younger brother) and they're absolutely wonderful together.  There were so many little moments during this shoot where I would catch the two of them locking eyes and laughing- it was the cutest! Nick and Anne, we can't wait to join you again for your wedding in the spring!

Kassi and I have known Trevor for about five years now, and when we met Tara, we could not have pictured anyone better for him. We were beyond excited when they asked us to photograph their big day. These two are an absolute hoot, and there is never a dull moment with them. Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Meyer!

Matt & Erin Engagement Pictures

When Matt and Erin told us their story and asked us to take their engagement pictures, we could not have been more excited. Matt and Erin met way back in elementary school and after all these years, their paths have merged into one. They were incredibly easy to photograph and in all their interactions, their love for each other was so real and so evident. Congratulations, Matt and Erin!

Here are a few snapshots from our shoot a few weeks back with Emily! This was our second shoot with Emily and the fall colors made us love how these turned out just as much (if not more!) than the first batch.  Thanks for a great time, Emily!
